FLAM - which stands for French as mother tongue - is a program to reinforce the French language and culture for French-speaking children living abroad.
ORIGINS The FLAM Program, created in 2001-2002 by the International Cooperation and Development Administration General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is aimed at the expatriate French communities. Its goal is to bring support for the establishment of extracurricular activities for French-speaking children, attending American local schools. Since 2009, the program is managed by the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger). OBJECTIVES The FLAM program helps maintain and reinforce French as a mother tongue and present various aspects of the French culture, with after-school activities.
